Weekend musings

Image
We were talking about God and stuff this afternoon while I was outside storing up on vitamins D and drying my freshly dyed/washed hair. For some reason the thought came to me that the whole communion of saints can be understood by thinking of God as a manager who delegates. While I wasn't being flippant  it was kinda funny.? I've got a backlog of lost items people are praying about, would you get on that Anthony... It makes me laugh when I think of the ways we as folks find ways to conceptualize things that by their nature are inconceptualizable, not sure that's a word but whatever, it is now. We went to the Saturday evening mass and jackpot, very few children. They don't get to me the way they do Das but if he's aggravated he can't enjoy the service so we've been searching for a workaround. It was a nice service. The person who spoke the homily has a very thick west indies accent so I'm really not sure about all he said but that's what I like ab...

Just Stuff N Things

I've been playing with essential oils. Today I made up spritzes of lemongrass, orange, peppermint and eucalyptus. While I like the fresh smell of the peppermint Das doesn't so that won't be a big bottle buy anytime soon. However the orange and lemongrass are good and of course lavender is my favorite. Still trying to find the best water, salt, oil blend to get the most lasting and strongest smell. I swear if i'd had this stuff as a kid I would have either smelled great or possibly had the whole house smelling crazy. Funny how much more creative in a crafty way I've become as I've gotten older. I think having options outside of knitting/sewing and cooking helps a lot. Not to mention being able to do things on my own schedule without anyone looking over my shoulder. I've also been taking loads of pictures. I love the overgrown look of my back yard right now, well I love it when i'm not actually walking through it and being accosted by spiders and other...

Catching Up

Sitting here with a very wet head trying to air dry I figure it's as good as time as any to catch up on my writing while I wait for my fingernails to dry. Clear polish is a lifesaver i swear. So for mother's day Das got me lessons 1 -5 of Rosetta Stone French software. So far I've only done one part of one lesson but I like it. No worrying about conjugating and spelling just yet so I'm able to concentrate on the words themselves. My french accent is still pretty shady but getting better. I've been on a chocolate bing the last couple of weeks but amazingly have not gained up. Maybe I've found calorie free chocolate, lol. We got a kuerag coffee maker which has become my best friend, no fuss no muss! Now I just need to find some tea and hot chocolate kcups and I'll be in business. The movie people decided to not film here which sort of relieves me because whew, no strangers traipsing through the house. Muttlies are being mutttastic as usual. Nellie seems ...

Book thoughts

It seems odd to me that in all the British police mysteries I read that the police are forever having tea and biscuits while interviewing even the people suspected of committing the crimes. I think it would be unheard of in the states to have cops come to the house suspecting you of murder and accepting an offer of tea assuming it would even be offered. I've wondered if it is simply a cultural politeness that supersedes the self preservation instincts or if it more a commentary on the extreme suspiousness of the US populace at large. I admit that ever time I read a scene of tea with suspects my first thought is "dude they could be about to poison you" in fact in one story the police was actually slipped a sedative and taken hostage but this in no way stopped that person particularly or the force as a unit from accepting drink and snacks prepared by suspects. It makes me realize how jaded I am and how even something so seemingly innnoculous as tea really throws a worldvi...
