We have a roomy

It’s finally over. The search for a housemate that is. We decided on a guy, Das would have preferred a girl but we had mostly guy candidates so. One positive that came out of the roommate situation is I can use the dining table for din8ng again and the downstairs is tidier 5hhan it ever was. Although we could rent out the other downstairs bedroom too we decided that a sitting room/game room would serve to give everyone a bit more privacy.

I’m making headway with my story, over two thousands words which I’m not sure is a good thing or not.

Trying to not over stress about life but sometimes it’s a take a clown and go to bed early kinda day.

Funny thing here, the most I see police is at the library. Are libraries really hotbeds of crime? I see plenty of unruly and loud kids but so far they have all responded well to a shushing by the librarians. Maybe they are here to walk people to their cars, which is nice seeing as how sundown is before five.

I’ve been sleeping like mad in part due to the lack of extended daylight hours.

We had the quietest Christmas ever. Splurged on chicken and Das cooked but most of the day was spent cuddling and relaxing. Cuddling is a must when temps are in double digit minus. We will be heading home soon aka the land of no internet so I’m not even going to attempt an in depth post on stuff running through my head.

The club

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
