Going Vanilla

After catching up on my kinky blog reading today I almost wish I hadn't. It seems everyone is in some type of crisis right now. I'm not sure how people can change so much that they stop being something so integral to who they are together but at the same time don't really stop it and are as a result so unhappy b/c they aren't who they were and aren't anyone new either. It boggles my mind. As annoyed as I sometimes get with Das about this or that I am glad that us as a unit is so important to him because it minimizes the odds of that happening to us. Not that we won't ever change but hopefully whatever changes we make will be made with us moving in the same direction.

One person commented that the author of the post should stop doing things for her former master/husband and basically live her own life without taking him into account. I cringed seeing that. Is that what vanilla means to people? Somehow I never got that memo. Being inconsiderate of your mate even if you feel they are being inconsiderate of you doesn't sound like a very good strategy for getting a relationship back on good footing. Just saying... I hope things work out for people in way that make them happy, it's looking like a long winter ahead for some folks.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
