And a frustrating day was had by all

The rainy blahness of the morning made me want to stay in bed and after getting up and about that urge was stronger. I managed to get up/dressed and ready to be productive and it all went down hill from there. 

We had a meeting with a potential landlord set up about an hr away so we left in plenty of time to account for construction traffic. Somehow the traffic was light enough to get us there wayyyy early so we decided to duck into a wholesale warehouse. Our just looking turned into a pair of boots (me) a pair of jeans (me) and trackpants (him). We never just look I swear. So by the time we realized we were running late I texted to say we were 5 minutes away and right after that we came to a traffic halt due to a bad accident. We made it to the place ten minutes later but the landlord had texted me back saying he was leaving and had stuff to do. Since we were there anyway we decided to at least check out the outside and Das declared it "not the one". It didn't help that when we got there the landlord was still there and even though we parked right next to him he didn't so much as inquire if we were the people he'd been waiting for. 

After a few minutes of deciding whether or not to stay around town and go to our second appt a few hrs later we came home. I emailed to reschedule just to get back an email (a couple hours before our scheduled tour) that the place we were going to look at had been rented.  The rental market out here is rough, lol. 

We got home both grumpy, tired, and hungry but after some well needed rest we narrowed down exactly where we wanted to live and what was a cannot live without and what was optional. Strange how all my requirements are optional. What can I say, i like a bit of luxury.  :) I am however willing to set aside some luxury for a place where rent is all inclusive. Only paying one bill a month... I'm all for it. 

So tonight has been looking for completely different places in a different area, lol. I found some I like that are within our budget and hopefully we will get a jump on applying for something next week. This weekend we are going to see a pup that we are interested in and meeting the potential new dogsitter. I guess I did have a productive day after it, it just felt like I was chasing my tail.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
