Being all handy

I'm taking a seriously earned break from the evil that is my new dresser. It's evil because I'm putting it together and not generally being the handy type it's nearly overwhelming. I was stuck on page 2 for about 30 minutes trying to make sense of the picture which seemed to throw in a few steps without clarifying them.  There are 16 steps and nearly 2 hours after I started I'm on step 9. I have to admit that the directions are way clearer than others I've seen so I think I'm going to stick with buying furniture from this company. There is at least a reasonable hope that I can put the stuff together using only the included instructions.

The guy who delivered it teased me about extra pieces and I nearly had a few before I figured out where they went.  The music helped a lot, if I wasn't allowed tunes for this type of grunt work we would never see the finished product. As it is I think I'm calling it a night and I'll wrap it up when I'm fresh tomorrow. We bought two but I'm pretending there is only the one for now otherwise I'd lose my mind.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
