Weekend Wrap Up

We watched some of the Labour Day parade from our balcony. I felt for those folks because it is crazy hot today with a thick layer of humid to solidify your discomfort. Sometime I really like living here because so many of the big events in Toronto happen along our street or pretty darn close but today I would have been ok living further out due to the planes. The poor dog thought the dogpocalyps was upon us with all the sonic booms happening way too close by. I am grateful he's not skittish or prone to peeing/pooping/barking when startled. Watching him jump off the couch running in circles trying to find the source of the sound was kinda funny in that "all kinds of wrong" kinda way.

Das and I have both been using this weekend to rest. He's been working too hard and I've been overtaxing myself so the last couple of days with nothing on our plates was hugely needed. Too bad we didn't get to visit his parents though, the drive would have been more fun this time because the radio now works. Talking interspersed with singing is the best formula for a road trip. Maybe if the warmth holds out another couple of weeks we can go down there and hit the beach. My bathing suit was woefully under utilized this summer.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
