Another Weekend Rushed By

This weekend was something of a blur of houses. We looked at countless pictures and slides and even went and saw one place in person. We will obviously have to do better at our scheduling to see places since a 2 hr trip to see one place isn't ideal. So many cute places though I'm bouncy excited. It's a bit overwhelming to know where to start, what is a good neighborhood and all that jazz. I'm lucky to have some friends who are familiar with the area who've been kind enough to steer us toward the good stuff. :)

So while all the packing and weeding out of things we have no more need for and shall not move commences we also will have people coming and going in the house we're currently in since our landlord will be doing repairs and getting ready to re-lease it. Busy is the watchword of the day umm make that the month. Just to add a bit of flavor to an already overpacked schedule I'm going to be out of town for a few days visiting the family down south. That has been giving me fits since I've been conjuring up every way in which it can go wrong. 5 whole days away from Das, we haven't been apart that long in 5 yrs eep! I'm so glad I have a gadgettastic phone now so that I can be in touch in every possible way. FB, twitter, text, IM you name it I have it on my phone, lol. I don't even need to be bothered with the hassle of bringing my computer. One of the fun things I'll do while I'm gone is spend time with my kids, yay! and my nieces and nephews and various and assorted family members I haven't seen in ages. Ok that will be both good and bad since I'm sure most of them have me stuck at about age 12, lol. Oh well family... I'll take pictures and enjoy them and get home as fast as possible and jump back into the fray.

Now it's storming and I'm sipping tea and thinking about breakfast. I suppose I should be doing more than thinking about doing laundry and packing or at least sorting stuff to be packed but man it's cozy on this couch...

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
