Thus it begins

So now the changes are coming upon us, this weekend my son who has lived with us for the duration of our relationship, and of course with me much longer given he is my son, is moving. He's going to live with his father. I am curious to see how this will impact our day to day lives in regards to our dynamic.

I'm curious because I've heard people swear you can't do M/s while there are children in the home of any age do to constant worries of state interference from an indiscreet word no matter how innocently spoken from the child. Personally I haven't had that worry even though I have been the subject of a child services investigation which went fine.  Others have said that having children underfoot stop you from executing all manner of elaborate rituals that are absolutely necessary to maintain M/s properly. Das has never to my knowledge had any interest in elaborate rituals so nothing has been missed there.

It's not that I doubt there will be noticeable changes, even on a daily basis. It's just that I'm not sure that they are M/s specific for us. They might be at that, could just be something I haven't thought of at all. It will be interesting to see how things unfold.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
