Blind Date
He
sat waiting for her to show up unaware that she had already arrived and was
peeking at him from around the corner. There is always a bit of nervousness
when meeting someone from a dating site thrown together by algorithms that have
no discernable rhyme or reason. And this was the first time she’d ventured into
it. Please don’t let him be a crazy person was the mantra she mumbled under her
breath.
While
he was occupied with fixing himself the perfect cup of coffee, three sugars and
enough cream to turn the coffee a paler color brown than her biscuit brown
complexion, she found herself drawn to his hands, broad heavy workman’s hands
that would have once marked him as being from peasant stock. There was
something comforting in the size and apparent strength of those hands. Although
he was half hidden behind the waist high table she could see enough to make her
mind start spinning tales of being picked up with ease and thrown around in the
most delightful way. Broad shoulders a thick neck and muscular arms all topped
with the most intriguing face. While no one would call him classically handsome
there was something about his face that drew the eye. Maybe it was the vivid
blue eyes that looked as if he saw everything including her hiding behind the
wall. Silky dark blond hair framed a broad face adorned with full pink lips and
a cute nose. Those lips were currently curved into a grin as she finally made
herself known.
Although
she was shy bordering on timid in her greeting her eyes gave her away. Deep
brown eyes with an interesting slant to them hinted at a multiethnic ancestry
and revealed the sense of humor and sensuality lurking beneath her demure demeanor. Sliding into the booth he only glimpsed her figure, which from what
he could see was rounded in a most unusual yet appealing way. Slim hips, round
thighs, a cute cushiony belly, and modestly sized but round breasts. Somehow it
worked in an indescribable way. Since his taste didn’t run towards very thin
women he hid his satisfied smile behind his coffee cup. Her short hair was a
riot of locs going every which way that he could barely keep his hands out of.
First date etiquette certainly doesn’t encourage mauling the hair of a near
stranger without permission after all. Not that rules meant a lot to him but
scaring off skittish prey was no way to get her to lower her guard and let him
see the personality she kept hidden.
After
ordering cake and hot chocolate they sat taking each other in. Her with full
brownish pink lips round cheeks and a lone dimple that flashed when she smiled
and laughed. This is not a girl who takes life or anything else seriously
unless she absolutely has to was a thought that flitted across his mind. Her
joy was palpable and she nearly vibrated with energy. It would have been
completely unsurprising if she’d started dancing in the middle of the
restaurant for no other reason than that she could. He made note of the fact
that if she’d been a child she would have been considered ADHD for sure.
Conversation
started slowly but with each bit of cake consumed the questions and stories flowed
more easily as if the chocolate concoction served the same social lubricating
effects usually associated with alcohol. She told stories of innocent
rebellions like sitting in her own back yard after dark, while his
transgressions left her slack jawed in a combination of horror and envy.
Discovering
how different their upbringings had been was hilarious; she was wide eyed at his
childhood antics having been a quieter bookworm herself. On the other hand her
mix of innocence and worldliness charmed him, reminding him of a naïf. Not a
title generally applied to a woman in her thirties but something about this
woman screamed girl more than woman.
After
two cups of cocoa she excused herself to the powder room and in it became
evident in watching her walk away that the roundness that marked her thighs and
face was also quite apparent in her full backside, a pleasant surprise given
the slenderness of her hips. Never before had he characterized himself as an
ass man but it was a conversion he was more than willing to make watching her
unconsciously seductive languid way of walking. The visual admiration was fully
returned after she reclaimed her seat and he got up to smoke on the patio. His
thighs and calves that were so conveniently on display in soccer shorts were
like tree trunks. The power evident in them inspired a bevy of unladylike
thoughts.
Unlike
him her every thought was broadcast on her face so as he slipped into the booth
he had to hold back laughter at the lustful thoughts she was trying so
valiantly to hide. He was not vain although it must be said that he was used to
having that type of effect on women. It was something he couldn’t account for
as he rated himself a generous 6 at best but for some reason he’d never had
trouble finding female companionship. Of course it could have had something
to do with the combination of lips looking like they were made for kissing and
a powerfully built body combined with a massive intellect. Anyone with that
body looks as if they have the stamina to show a girl a good time and after
talking to him you know he has the knowledge to make it memorable. For a girl
who prized intelligence and had a weakness for solid strong looking men the
combination was irresistible.
The
hours flew by at double time and in due order the coffee shop staff was
throwing unsubtle hints about closing. They decided to extend their date into
walking through the park to keep talking. Other park residence probably thought
the two of them mad with their unrestrained laughter and silly antics, in such
a quiet town two adults making use of the swings and slide was not a common
sight.
Aside
from the obvious physical attraction that sparked between them the shared love
of laughter and daring is what really did it. They had found what promised to
be kindred spirits in each other and each finding the other so easy to talk to
freely spoke of the most personal things without feeling awkward. When finally
time constraints and the closing of the park for the night forced them to part
ways they did so with a sweet kiss that held promises of kisses to come and
assurances of their intentions to keep in touch. As they looked back on their
first date many years later they couldn’t tell you exactly what was said but
they both knew that in that first meeting they had found the person they were
meant to be with. Score one for the internet.
