Having a good day

Today has been nice, very quiet as our weekends are apt to be with sporadic chats about soccer and life ribboning long stretches of happy silence. We even took a bit of a drive and had coffee after I'd had a much needed catch up girl talk with a friend this morning.

After we got home I was feeling pretty cute so I took pictures and tried to get just the right light which is difficult inside since our house is rather dark. My hair has darkened as I expected but the gray has settled into a pretty reddish gold in the sun that I am liking. I missed a couple but I will get them on the next go around. I still have 1 pack of henna left and I think I'm going to do it again before going to see the fam in April. Since I know whenever my family gets together there will be lots of pictures and I want to make sure I look good.

I refuse to buy a new wardrobe for a short visit back so I'm trying out outfits to see what will cause me the least grief. I think today's might actually do ok. I felt pretty good in it although depending on the weather I might get a full t-shirt instead of a tank top. I love cargo pants, so easy to move in and they fit better than jeans. Of course if I had my way yoga pants would be consider real clothing by everyone. Oh well with a few strategically placed tights and sweaters I think it will be fine.  I realized today after looking at the pictures how much smaller my butt has gotten, lol. Funny the things you notice in pictures.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
