Sweet Dreams

It's funny how I have whole conversations with people in my dreams that I would more than likely avoid when I'm awake. Even funnier that I often remember them. Last night well this morning since we didn't get to sleep until well after midnight... I was dreaming about talking to my dad about my menstrual issues. He asked me why I hadn't said anything before and I told him that I saw no reason to bother since he'd made it clear that he didn't think menstrual pain was something worth complaining about. He started on his usual I don't recall having said any such thing, can't believe you are holding a grudge, it's awful the lies my children tell about me song and dance and I just looked at him and when he was done said and this is why I didn't bother, then walked away.  For a few minutes I wasn't even sure it was a dream it felt like a memory except I know it hasn't actually happened. I try hard to be a peacemaker in my family so it's an unlikely scenario anyway.

Somehow in the space of only getting about 3hrs sleep I managed another dream in addition to the above. The other one was a creepy art film style dream with elements from novels, life, tv shows I've never actually seen and a couple of movies. I woke myself up because the creepiness factor was increasing by the minute and I was not ready for whatever it was building up to. I prefer my sleep uninterrupted by my own screams thank you very much.

I have been dreaming very vividly for a bit now, it's been intense. Sometimes it's just like a slice of life and sometimes it's like a movie but the times that seriously trip me out are when I'm watching something happen as if I'm watching a movie but I feel like I'm floating. Seriously the oddest sensation ever. I know woosh is a sound but I can't think of another word to describe the feeling I have when I wake up from those dreams, lol. I've been up since 3 with no back to sleepiness in sight. Das on the other hand is a sleep traitor. He said he wanted to get up and had me make him coffee, now he's snoring on the couch holding his coffee cup.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
