New computer!

I am now on a shiny new computer *squee*!  Das was pained about how slow my old machine was so he decided to upgrade me. I hadn't even realized just how slow the other one was until this one was all set up but wow the difference is amazing. I am still with a mac just a newer one. A Macbook Air this time because it's nice and light and I have a fondness for laying on the couch with my computer on my lap. It also doesn't run hot which is a huge bonus, the old Mac actually left a burn on my right thigh when I neglected to put something between my tender skin and it. :(  Anyway he spent all evening/night yesterday migrating my information from the old machine to this one so that I would not have to rebuild from scratch. Just for this capability alone I may never go back to a PC.

Not much has been going on the last couple of days Monday I went on a cleaning spree and did several loads of laundry starting early in the morning before I faced the perils of highway driving. I went to the nearest post office I could find that didn't require an appointment to apply for a passport (finally!) the wait time wasn't too bad only about an hour.  Considering the places that needed an appointment didn't have an openings for several weeks I will take it. I am crossing my fingers that nothing weird happens and in 6 weeks I am the proud owner of my first passport. When I made my way home by way of a different highway (trying to cut down on left turns...) More laundry was completed, trash taken out, kitchen was cleaned, and then I collapsed.

Yesterday I had a few errands to run and some quick garage tidying to do, nothing too strenuous. Today I have plans of intense relaxation and playing with my new computer. :) I finally figured out my photo editing software so I might be playing with that a bit. It's not photoshop but I'm not playing in the big leagues just yet, lol.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
