quick recap of yesterdays goings on

i fell asleep a bit after 7pm last night and even though I really wanted more sleep by 3am I was fully awake. That is the downside of going to bed so early for me, I can never sneak in those extra hours.  Even worse is the fact that I was going to enjoy early morning cake and hot chocolate but someone else got there first! :(  Early morning grapes just don't have the same "yum" factor but I suppose I can try.

Yesterday was a fun day as we had a friend over for lunch. She hung out with us for several hours. One thing I like about hanging out with her is that conversations are always all over the place, we talk work, sex, exercise, music, soccer, fashion, child rearing... no one really knows  what what come up we just go. I love that.  We have established a pretty nice rythme when she comes over for lunch or dinner. Das cooks, I plate, serve and clear. I have the loveseat to myself and they take either end of the couch.  I find it amusing how quickly we all fall into these little patterns.

Tonight is MasT and I still don't know what I am bringing.  I don't think I am going to make anything this time as I have zero inspiration.  Shoot I just realized I don't remember the topic, probably due to it being nearly 4am and my brain being fuzzy.  I rather hope there aren't as many people there as last month,  sitting on the floor is distinctly uncomfortable even with a pillow.

Apperently the club isn't just an American thing.  I was just sitting chatting and minding my business when a flow of older black women walked by all saying hello and good to see you and see you later. The person I was speaking to asked me when I had met them and I laughed and told her that I had never seen any of them before. Das explained to her that this is a pretty common occurrence for me. He gets tickled whenever he witnesses it.  I guess some things aren't country specific.

Coffee

Last night we went to a coffee tasting. Now let it be known that I categorically do not like the taste of coffee but Das does so there you have it.  I drank tiny cup after tiny cup of heavily creamed/sugared coffee trying to discern roundness, smokey aftertones, citrus hints and whatnot. One cup tasted woodsie to me but that was about all I got and no one else knew what I was talking about so I'm going to have to say that my skills as a coffee taster are sorely lacking. It was a fun event though, lots of laughing and chatting about all types of stuff. In fact one might have suspected the coffee had been spiked with something alcoholic if one was simply observing the flushed cheeks and cheery demeanor of the participants. I got the opposite of buzzed though. Each cup brought me closer to falling over in my chair. By the time we left which really wasn't very late at all, I could barely be upright. Update Quickie

Christmas was good. We had a nice trip to the inlaws and we we got there the chocolate consumption was high. :) I'm rather amazed that I didn't gain more weight frankly because I always eat more there, I swear they put something in the food. We all exchanged presents and everyone seemed happy with what they got. I know I was. I got sparkly things and lotions, stuff I love. His mom is pretty perceptive because even though I always get girly things she never gives me nail polish which is good seeing as how I don't wear it. I am going to have a stellar collection of gloves though since I still have the ones from last year. Of course at this time of year there is no such thing as too many gloves. It snowed a few days, stayed sunny for Christmas and started sleeting the next morning. I'm glad we only made a day trip, driving home in that mess would have been horrible.
